Meet Amanda Au, Marketing and Communications Lead at Startup TNT

ZS:  Hi Amanda

AA:  Hi Zack

ZS:  Welcome to the team!  Let’s start with the most important question, how do we pronounce your last name?

AA: ‘OWWW’ Like when you get hurt.

ZS:  Sounds like that could get confusing for you in certain situations. Do you find yourself frequently helping injured people because you thought they were calling your name?  

AA:  How old are you? 

ZS:  37.  Why?

AA:  You tell dad jokes like a 65-year-old.  

ZS:  Well I’ve always been quite mature for my age.  In high school people said I looked 40. Let’s talk about your last name.

AA:  Ok what do you want to know about it?

ZS:  Was it inspired by the periodic table? There must be a story here.  

AA:  Is this some sort of nerd joke?  What are you going on about?  

ZS:  It’s pure gold!

AA: Lol, ok, so definitely a nerd joke. It’s all good, I’m a nerd too. 

ZS: Oh yeah? What are your nerdy delights? 

AA: I looooooove reading. I didn’t keep track last year, but so far in 2022, I’ve already read 3 books. I’m also crazy for true crime - podcast, documentaries, you name it. I know a scary amount of information about serial killers. Oh and Marvel movies. Love them. 

ZS: Favourite superhero then. 

AA: Spiderman - but not the overly serious one. Like Miles Morales in Spiderverse. 

ZS: Love it. Alright, so how did you hear about Startup TNT?

AA: I actually saw a Linkedin post from Ali over at dealcloser.  And publicly asked for an intro, to which you responded. 3 interviews later, I got a job!

ZS: The TNT community continues to deliver!  Dealcloser is better known for closing legal deals, but hey, they helped us close an employment deal! We should thank Ali.

AA:  I’ll edit this for us and add it in naturally so you look really smooth.

ZS:  What words would you use to describe it?

AA:  A little confused… male… lol, heavily influenced by Zack’s Personality.
